Race fans and racers braved a frosty
Florida night as they gathered to reopen the
historic Ocala Speedway for another
exciting season of racing, and Florida's
oldest speedway did not disappoint. The
Sunoco United Dirt Late Model Challenge
Series was also kicking off their season as
a part of the festivities at Ocala, as were
Ocala's own Amsoil V8 Thunder Stocks,
and the Mini Stocks. The fans and racers
also collected over $260 to pass along to
the founder and operator of Karnac.com
and Real Racin' USA, Jack Smith. Smith
has recently been undergoing extensive
surgery and was diagnosed with cancer.

Much of the attention on the night went to
the Sunoco United Dirt Late Models as the
new and improved version of the racing
series debuted. The Ocala race officially
was part of the new Southern division of the
UDLMCS, but racers from the north also
participated. Also garnering plenty of
attention was the newly formed team
included Ocala's own Ivedent Lloyd and

Final preparations are in progress for the
opening of the 2010 weekly racing season
at Volusia Speedway Park.  A free preview
of the 2010 season can be seen when
racers take advantage of the Open Practice
scheduled for Saturday, March 6.  Saturday,
March 13 marks the official start of the 2010
campaign with a full racing program
including: Late Models, Modifieds,
Sportsman, Street Stocks, 4-Cylinder
Challengers and Thunder Stocks.
Volusia Speedway’s 2010 season
showcases the finest in DIRTcar Racing
every week with added fun for fans of all
ages.  Highlights include “Island Night” on
March 27 featuring the Ms. Volusia
Speedway Park Competition; Easter Fun on
April 3, Monster Energy Night on April 10,
Top Gun Sprint Cars and Florida Mini
Sprints on several nights;  Rasslin’ &
Racin’ April 24; “Uno de Mayo” on May 1;
Double Points and Fan Autographs on June
12; the Scott Thompson Memorial Late
Model event June 26;  Weiner Nationals
August 7; DAARA Vintage Cars on several

Volusia Speedway Gearing Up
for Opening Night
East Bay Sets Special Admission
Price For Final Night of Win
East Bay Raceway Park will set lower
admission prices for the final night of the
2010 winternationals. Racing started on
Jan. 26 with the Open Wheel Modifieds and
will finish up Saturday March 6, with the
National All Star Racing Association.

The NASRA Late model Series has had two
action packed nights, with great racing all
over the speedway. Travis Varnadore of
Dover, FL drove wire to wire on night one of
the NASRA Late Model Series taking the
win. Skylar Marlar, from Winfield, TN, drove
past Aaron Ridley on lap 20 of the 25 lap A
Main to win night two.

The final night of the 2010 winternationals
will be a special admission night. Prices
